Is DoorDash or Uber Eats cheaper?
Neither app is always cheaper. The same meal can cost less on DoorDash one night and less on Uber Eats the next, because each fee depends on the store, your address and the order. The only reliable test is to build the same cart in both apps and compare the totals at checkout.
The fees move for different reasons on each app. DoorDash says its delivery fee varies by merchant and its service fee varies with distance and order size. Uber Eats says its delivery fee depends on your location and how many delivery people are nearby, and its service fee is a share of your subtotal with a floor and a cap.
Menu prices can differ between the apps too, since restaurants set their own prices on each one. Compare item prices, not just the fee lines.
If you order often, a membership can matter more than the app. As of October 2026:
- DashPass costs $9.99 a month or $96 a year, plus taxes. It gives $0 delivery fees and lower service fees on eligible orders at participating stores that meet the minimum subtotal.
- Uber One is listed at $9.99 a month. It gives a $0 delivery fee on eligible orders over the minimum subtotal and a discounted service fee at participating stores. Eligible first time members can get a 4 week free trial.
Both memberships only pay off if the restaurants you use are eligible, so check that before you sign up. Taxes and tips still apply on either app.
Late at night, the cheaper app is often just the one where your kitchen is still open. See which apps deliver after midnight.
